Candidate Forum
Brisbane's Parliament House was treated to a taste of the Australian Party last week, as candidates gathered for a two day conference.
Bob Katter, Aidan Mc Lindon and the 32 candidates for Queensland's newest political force discussed policy, campaigning, and how to shake up a country in dire need of a change.
Topics of the conference included economics, voter representation and restoring Australia's industries to their former glory. Candidates were also treated to a singing rendition by Bob himself.
He commended the work they had done so far, saying "each person here today is fighting for what needs to be done in this country. Queensland is crying out for a change that represents the people instead of ignoring their voices."
Candidates travelled from around the state to discuss issues affecting their local communities and focus on a state wide strategy to tackle these.

Yarrabah
On 24 October 2011, Hon Bob Katter MP joined the Yarrabah community south of Cairns in celebrating their Silver Jubilee of control over their own lands after 150 years of effective dispossession.
The Silver Jubilee celebrations marked 25 years since Bob, who was then the Bjelke-Petersen Government's Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, enshrined in legislation the self-management rights of Aboriginal community lands through elected councils; and introduced laws granting inalienable freehold title of the former mission reserves (held in trust by the elected councils), including a regulatory mechanism to enable private ownership of lands (through perpetual leases for home ownership by families, as well as term leases for enterprise development).
