Queensland State Election 2012
General elections are held every three years in Queensland, with the Premier recently announcing that the next Queensland State election will be held on the 24th March 2012. On 29 February 2012 the current Parliament will be dissolved and the government will enter caretaker mode until the poll is decided.
The State is divided into 89 electorates and on 24 March 2012 eligible Queenslanders will elect one Member of Parliament for each electoral district. Enrolment and voting are compulsory for Queenslanders who are Australian citizens 18 years or over.
